Project Overview

For my Endterm 1 project, I created a CGI scene combining a real-world photograph with 3D animation. The scene features WALL-E discovering and interacting with a custom-modeled LEGO radio.

In the animation, WALL-E approaches the radio, takes a cassette tape from his chest, inserts it into the radio, and presses a button to start playing music. After listening for a moment, he stops the music and removes the cassette.

I modeled and textured the LEGO radio in Autodesk Maya, focusing on realistic materials, lighting, and reflections. Using camera matching, HDRI lighting, and shadow integration, I placed the animated character and radio into the photographed environment.

Finally, I composited the rendered elements in Nuke, refining colors, reflections, and contact shadows to create a seamless integration between CGI and reality.
